Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 10 — The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Islamic Republic of Iran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tourism Cooperation to attract more Iranian tourists and enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, and H.E. Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of the 26th General Assembly of the UN Tourism in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism, the agreement aims to promote friendship, cultural exchange, and tourism cooperation between the Royal Governments and peoples of both countries. The partnership will open opportunities for mutual tourism promotion, training programs, and joint initiatives to strengthen travel flows between Cambodia and Iran.

With a population exceeding 92 million, Iran represents a growing and high-potential source market. The MoU will help Cambodia diversify its tourism markets, expand Muslim-friendly tourism offerings, and develop new value-added heritage and cultural experiences tailored for Iranian visitors.
The recent launch of Etihad Airways’ direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Phnom Penh in early October is expected to facilitate travel, boost connectivity, and enhance tourism and investment cooperation across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Earlier, on November 9, Minister Huot Hak also met with H.E. Phyo Saw Soe, Deputy Minister of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar. Both sides discussed expanding collaboration through ASEAN, GMS, CLMV, and ACMECS frameworks and explored the potential for direct flights between major cities to increase tourist exchanges in the region.
