The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in Cambodia have discussed developing a framework to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in the education sector.
The meeting took place in Phnom Penh on March 12 between H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, and Mr. Sardar Umar Alam, UNESCO Representative in Cambodia.
Mr. Sardar Umar Alam expressed UNESCO’s interest in supporting MoEYS in advancing technology and integrating AI into Cambodia’s education system.
H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron thanked UNESCO for its support, highlighting Cambodia’s goal to leverage AI to enhance teaching and learning. He noted that AI could help students and teachers broaden their thinking and strengthen their application of STEM subjects.
As a first step, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron proposed that UNESCO assist with establishing digital libraries and developing a practical framework for using AI in education.
