Phnom Penh – Cambodia will celebrate the 72nd birthday of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, tomorrow, May 14, 2025, with nationwide tributes and traditional ceremonies.
As part of the annual royal observance, His Majesty is expected to travel to a province where Buddhist monks will chant religious scriptures and offer prayers for his continued good health and longevity. In return, the King will present offerings, including monetary donations, in support of the development of the local pagoda.
Following the religious ceremony, His Majesty will distribute donations to local communities in need. These typically include rice, mosquito nets, blankets, scarves, T-shirts, sarongs, trousers, and financial assistance.
May 14 is a public holiday in Cambodia, and civil servants, workers, and employees across the country will have the day off to honour the King’s birthday.
The celebration reflects the deep respect and affection held by the Cambodian people for their monarch and is marked by acts of generosity, unity, and national pride.
