Cambodian Prime Minister Embarks on Official Visit to Deepen Relations with Viet Nam

Phnom Penh, Dec. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has embarked on an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on December 11, 2023, at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The visit, scheduled for two days until December 12, aims to strengthen the already vibrant relationship between the two neighboring countries.

Joining Samdech Thipadei on this important trip are prominent figures, including First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, Sun Chanthol, and Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea. Additionally, a delegation of ministers, key government officials, and leading business figures from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce will accompany the Prime Minister, as stated in the official press release.

During the visit, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting to discuss various areas of cooperation. These areas encompass education, trade, investment, connectivity, tourism, culture, security, defense, and border affairs, among others. The leaders also plan to address sub-regional, regional, and international issues that are of mutual interest and concern, showcasing their commitment to comprehensive collaboration.

Moreover, as a testament to the expanding ties between Cambodia and Viet Nam, both Prime Ministers will witness the signing of several agreements. Furthermore, they will co-preside over the Cambodia-Viet Nam Trade and Investment Promotion Forum, highlighting the importance of economic cooperation and trade between the two nations.

During his stay in Viet Nam, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet will pay courtesy calls on prominent Vietnamese officials, including Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Vo Van Thuong, President of Viet Nam, and Vuong Dinh Hue, President of the National Assembly of Viet Nam. Additionally, he will receive courtesy calls from Nguyen Thi Thang, chairwoman of the Cambodia-Viet Nam Friendship Association, as well as leaders of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

In a significant gesture, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei will also deliver a keynote address on the economic development policy of the Cambodian Government and the economic relations between Cambodia and Viet Nam. This address will take place at the prestigious Foreign Trade University in Ha Noi, showcasing the importance of economic growth and cooperation between the two nations.

This official visit by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet to Viet Nam serves as a testament to the enduring relationship based on the spirit of “Good Neighbourliness, Traditional Friendship, Comprehensive Cooperation, and Long-term Stability between Cambodia and Viet Nam.” Both countries seek to further solidify their bond for the mutual benefit and prosperity of their people.

As Cambodia and Viet Nam continue to strengthen their cooperation and reinforce their historical ties, this visit signifies a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.
