The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) is working towards aligning Cambodia’s logistics sector with the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) standards. The goal is to enhance efficiency, competitiveness, and position Cambodia as a key logistics hub in the region.
On February 4, a high-level meeting took place at the CDC headquarters, co-chaired by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice President, alongside H.E. Ms. Tania Meyer, the World Bank’s Country Manager for Cambodia. The meeting brought together key government officials and representatives from the World Bank to discuss the methodology and data collection procedures for the LPI assessment.
During the session, World Bank experts presented the methodologies used to determine the LPI ranking, which is based on six key indicators:
- Efficiency of customs and border clearance
- Quality of trade and transport infrastructure
- Ease of arranging competitively priced shipments
- Competence and quality of logistics services
- Ability to track and trace consignments
- Frequency of on-time deliveries
H.E. Sun Chanthol requested further explanations from the World Bank’s experts to ensure that Cambodia’s policies and regulatory framework align with global LPI trends. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among relevant stakeholders and sought the World Bank’s support in improving Cambodia’s logistics sector.
H.E. Ms. Tania Meyer reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to working alongside the Royal Government of Cambodia in its efforts to transform the country into a competitive and high-potential logistics hub in the region.
