The Cambodia Real Estate Awards 2024, held on the evening of May 8th at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, was an honor to the vibrant growth and outstanding innovation within the Cambodian real estate industry. Organized by Realestate.com.kh in partnership with key industry bodies including The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, The Real Estate Business and Pawnshop Regulator of Cambodia, and the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association, the event drew over 300 esteemed guests, marking it as a pivotal gathering of the industry’s most influential players.
The evening commenced with an inspiring keynote speech by Tom O’Sullivan, CEO of Realestate.com.kh, who emphasized the critical roles of professionalism, transparency, and trust-building. O’Sullivan’s address set the tone for the evening, underscoring the necessity of bolstering buyer confidence and attracting sustained international investment to maintain the sector’s robust growth.
A key highlight of the night was the launch of Connect, an innovative platform introduced by Realestate.com.kh. Designed to unify the industry, Connect aims to promote Cambodia’s real estate sector on a global scale, fostering efficient, transparent transactions through a seamlessly integrated platform. This initiative is expected to further enhance the sector’s competitiveness by providing a unified front for all stakeholders.
The awards ceremony itself was a celebration of excellence, recognizing the achievements of individuals and companies that have significantly contributed to the industry’s development. Winners were evaluated on criteria such as industry leadership, innovation, business growth, impact, and overall excellence, ensuring that the awards reflected true merit.
The big winner of the night was Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), which took home the prestigious Developer of the Year award. OCIC was recognized for its exemplary projects that have notably shaped Phnom Penh’s skyline. Meanwhile, MegaKim World Corporation received the Best Condominium Developer of the Year award for its innovative Time Square projects, which have set new standards in luxury living.
Canopy Sands Development clinched the Development of the Year award, an example to its pioneering work in transforming Sihanoukville with its comprehensive and sustainable approach. Other notable awards included the Condominium Development of the Year, which went to LE CONDÉ BKK1, and the Best Landed Property Development of the Year, won by Borey Williams.
The agency awards highlighted Asia Real Estate Cambodia (ARC) for its outstanding research and valuation services, while WH Living and Properties was recognized as the Property Management Firm of the Year for Residential services, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining high standards in property management.
In a post-awards interview, Tom O’Sullivan expressed his gratitude towards the judging panel and sponsors, including Hanuman Beer, Port City Colombo, and B2B Cambodia, among others. He remarked on the success of the 2024 awards and the bright future of the Cambodian real estate industry. “While the industry faces challenges, it’s crucial for us to unite and reinforce our commitment to sustainable and transparent growth,” he stated.
