Phnom Penh, Cambodia — Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Manet met with displaced families in Banteay Meanchey Province on 14 February 2026, offering encouragement and reaffirming the government’s ongoing commitment to their welfare and support, according to official statements.
In the morning, Hun Manet visited a designated safety centre at Wat Chansi Samki Ratanaram in Ou Chrov district, where approximately 1,248 displaced individuals from Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages are temporarily sheltering. The prime minister met with the families to hear their concerns and to express the government’s dedication to ensuring their well-being while they remain unable to return to their homes.
Officials noted that authorities are actively arranging temporary accommodation and essential assistance at evacuation sites, with particular attention being paid to elderly and vulnerable families. Efforts to improve living conditions at these centres include enhanced security, sanitation, and access to a healthy environment for all residents.
Later in the day, Hun Manet also met with 300 displaced households from Ou Chrov and Thma Puok districts, reiterating the Royal Government’s pledge to support citizens affected by displacement. This second engagement underscored continuity in government outreach and responsiveness to the needs of affected communities across multiple districts in the province.
During both visits, the prime minister stressed that no citizen will be left behind, and that the well-being of the people remains central to the Royal Government’s mission. Government officials emphasized that the support provided at evacuation sites is part of a broader national effort to prevent renewed conflict, safeguard civilians, and work toward stability.
Banteay Meanchey has seen periodic displacement due to ongoing tensions and logistical challenges near border areas. The government’s engagement with displaced families reflects its strategic approach to humanitarian assistance, resilience building, and community support under challenging circumstances.
