Siem Reap, Cambodia, will be hosting a networking day for travel, tourism, and hospitality stakeholders on March 25, 2023. The event, co-hosted by Destination Mekong and the Siem Reap Tourism Club (STC), is aimed at promoting public-private partnerships, generating tourism business, income, and job opportunities in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and the Greater Mekong Sub-region.

The event will bring together 100 representatives of the public and private sectors, including travel operators, travel agencies, accommodation and experience providers, tourism boards, DMOs, central and local government officials, academia, INGOs/NGOs, students, and the media. Key partners, including AZ Group, GIZ, and WWF, and key supporters, such as All Dreams Cambodia, BRB-Satcha, EHT Paul Dubrule, Lolei Travel, Memoire, Spoons Restaurant and Café, will be present. The Better Cambodia and CambodiaBeginsat40 are the media partners for the event.

The program will include a multiplayer networking breakfast and interactive session on building tourism and hospitality skills and resilience, eco-friendly cycling event activities in Siem Reap, a visit to Satcha workshops, and a networking evening at Spoons Restaurant and Coffee with a WWF Earth Hour celebration with candle lights.

The main event will start at 8:00 AM and end at 11:00 AM at the Memoire Palace Resort and Spa. It will include a garden breakfast networking session, opening remarks by Catherine Germier-Hamel, CEO of Destination Mekong, and welcoming remarks by Philip Kao, President of the Siem Reap Tourism Club. The event will also feature congratulatory remarks by a representative of the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, remarks by a representative of Siem Reap locals, and group pictures.

The session will provide a platform for professionals, businesses, and organizations involved in travel and hospitality in Siem Reap and Cambodia to co-create and share positive experiences, grassroots solutions, smart tools, and inspiring stories to stimulate sustainable tourism recovery in Siem Reap and Cambodia.

The session will be followed by presentations from GIZ and other presenters, interactive sessions with participants, and closing remarks by Catherine Germier-Hamel, CEO of Destination Mekong, and introduction of the program in the afternoon and evening.

The optional outdoor activities include eco-friendly cycling event activities in Siem Reap, co-organized with LoLei Travel and EHT Paul Dubrule. This activity will give participants an opportunity to explore Siem Reap in an eco-friendly way while enjoying the scenic views of the city.

The Satcha workshop’s visit will provide participants with an opportunity to see how local artisans create sustainable and ethical products that reflect the cultural heritage of Cambodia.

The networking evening at Spoons Restaurant and Coffee will provide a platform for participants to connect and share their experiences and ideas while enjoying delicious food and drinks. The event will also include a WWF Earth Hour celebration with candlelight to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable tourism practices.

Destination Siem Reap: Together Stronger, Smarter Networking Day is an excellent opportunity for stakeholders in travel, tourism, and hospitality in Siem Reap and Cambodia to come together, network, and collaborate towards sustainable tourism recovery in the region. The event promises to be exciting, informative, and engaging, with opportunities to learn from industry experts, share experiences and ideas, and explore the city’s scenic beauty.
