Cambodia is preparing to host the “Village Francophone”, a cultural and tourism exhibition planned as a major side event during the 20th Francophonie Summit in November 2026. The event will be organised in Phnom Penh from November 13 to 17, coinciding with the summit scheduled between November 14 and 16.
The initiative is being coordinated by Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with several government institutions and international partners. The programme is expected to highlight the cultural diversity, tourism potential, and economic collaboration opportunities among member countries of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
Cultural and Tourism Showcase
The Village Francophone will function as a large exhibition space where participating countries and international organisations can present their culture, tourism products, and services. The platform is expected to feature country pavilions, cultural performances, exhibitions, and networking activities involving public and private sector stakeholders.
Cambodia also plans to showcase its own tourism attractions and hospitality sector, reinforcing the country’s branding as a regional travel destination under the tourism campaign “Cambodia – Kingdom of Wonder, Feel the Warmth, Safe, Clean and Green.”
Authorities have invited tourism associations, businesses, development partners, media organisations, and international visitors to participate in promoting the event.
Part of a Broader Francophonie Programme
The Village Francophone will be one of several official side events accompanying the 20th Francophonie Summit. Cambodia is also planning to organise the Francophonie Entrepreneurship Forum and the FrancoTech exhibition, which will focus on innovation, business cooperation, and technology collaboration among French-speaking countries.
The summit itself is expected to bring together heads of state, government representatives, and international organisations from across the Francophone world to discuss cooperation on economic development, culture, and global challenges.
Potential Real Estate and Economic Impact
Large international events such as the Francophonie Summit often generate increased demand for hospitality infrastructure, commercial space, and urban services in host cities. Phnom Penh’s preparations for the summit may contribute to higher occupancy rates in hotels, short-term rental properties, and business venues.
Additionally, international delegations, investors, and tourism operators attending side events like Village Francophone could create opportunities for commercial partnerships and investment discussions, indirectly supporting the local real estate and tourism sectors.
