The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Türkiye have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation through the 4th Joint Economic Commission (JEC) Meeting, held on November 4, 2025, in Ankara, Türkiye. The meeting highlighted a mutual ambition to expand trade, investment, and sectoral collaboration to reach a US$1 billion bilateral trade target set by both governments.
A Platform for Deeper Economic Engagement
The JEC meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce, and H.E. İbrahim Yumaklı, Türkiye’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. Senior officials and technical experts from various ministries and institutions of both nations also participated, marking a comprehensive dialogue on future cooperation.
The co-chairs reviewed the progress of existing initiatives and explored new frameworks to promote trade and investment flows. Both sides expressed strong confidence that closer collaboration will unlock opportunities in agriculture, industrial production, and emerging technologies.
Expanding Trade and Investment Horizons
A key focus of the meeting was the commitment to boost bilateral trade volume to US$1 billion, a milestone that reflects the growing synergy between the two economies.
Discussions centered on:
- Facilitating direct trade in goods and services by simplifying customs procedures and promoting business partnerships.
- Encouraging investments in value-added manufacturing, food processing, and renewable energy.
- Enhancing business-to-business engagement through trade fairs and private sector matchmaking programs.
The Cambodian side also welcomed Türkiye’s interest in expanding cooperation in the agro-industrial sector, leveraging Cambodia’s strengths in rice, cashew nuts, fruits, and processed food exports.

The Joint Minutes of the 4th Meeting outline a broad framework covering:
- Trade and Services – Diversifying export-import opportunities and improving standards compliance.
- Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries – Sharing expertise in sustainable farming, irrigation, and agro-processing.
- Transport and Infrastructure – Enhancing logistics networks to facilitate smoother movement of goods.
- Education and Vocational Training – Promoting academic partnerships and skill-development programs.

Cambodia’s Delegation Strengthening Ties in Ankara
During her official visit to Türkiye, Minister Cham Nimul also led high-level meetings with leading Turkish enterprises and chambers of commerce. These dialogues aimed to identify new business opportunities, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, textiles, processed foods, and logistics.
By fostering direct interaction between the private sectors of both nations, the visit reinforced the practical dimension of the Cambodia–Türkiye partnership.
