On the 14th of June, 2024, a significant diplomatic meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Kingdom of Cambodia. His Excellency KHUON Phon Rattanak, Secretary of State of the Ministry, welcomed Her Excellency Ülkü Kocaefe, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Cambodia.

The dialogue between the two officials proved to be a reaffirmation of the flourishing relationship between Cambodia and Türkiye. Satisfaction was mutually expressed regarding the results of the successful official visit of His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to Türkiye, which occurred from May 28th to 29th, 2024. This visit had been a cornerstone in the evolving partnership, enabling face-to-face dialogue and deepened mutual understanding between the nations.

During their meeting, HE KHUON Phon Rattanak and Ambassador Ülkü Kocaefe comprehensively reviewed the progress achieved on several key initiatives that had been previously discussed by the Deputy Prime Minister during his trip to Türkiye. The conversation not only aimed to assess the developments but also to ensure that the momentum of positive change created by these discussions continued to propel forward.

The officials did not stop at merely recounting past achievements. They also devoted substantial time to reiterating their countries’ strong resolve to persevere in these collaborative efforts. Equally important was the intention to delve into new sectors of potential cooperation that could further enhance the scope and depth of their bilateral relations.

The specifics of the new venues for cooperation were not disclosed; however, it was clear that both Cambodia and Türkiye are eager to build upon their already robust ties. The continuous improvement and expansion of their relationship are likely to have lucrative and beneficial outcomes, particularly in fostering economic growth, cultural exchange, and diplomatic rapport.

This meeting serves as a clear indication of a determined stride toward a mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations. As Cambodia and Türkiye actively work to identify and develop areas of shared interest, their commitment stands as a symbol of their dedication to contribute to a future that benefits not just their own countries, but sets a precedent for international cooperation.
