Takeo authorities are preparing for the upcoming River Festival, which aims to attract tourists with a variety of artistic performances and entertainment.
The festival will take place from Friday to Sunday at Takeo Lakeside Park in Daun Keo City.
Huot Hak, the Minister of Tourism, held a meeting with Takeo Provincial Governor Vei Samnang yesterday to assess the progress of preparations for the 9th River Festival 2025. On Saturday, Samnang conducted an on-site inspection at Takeo Lakeside Park, where he directed officials and experts to accelerate preparations to ensure the event’s success.
Samnang stressed the importance of maintaining safety, cleanliness, and visual appeal at the festival site, highlighting Takeo’s pride in hosting such a prominent national event.
To engage the public, the Ministry of Tourism and Takeo Provincial Administration have organized 10 different sports activities. These include a 75-kilometre cycling event from Phnom Penh to Takeo, a running competition with 1,200 participants, as well as chess, volleyball, canoeing, kayaking, and Kun Khmer boxing.
Takeo is known for its rich cultural and historical attractions, including ancient temples, historical sites, and its traditional silk weaving and scarf handicrafts. The province also boasts a strong agricultural sector, producing rice and specialty products such as freshwater lobsters and duck eggs — offerings that continue to make Takeo an appealing destination for tourists.
