The governments of Vietnam and Cambodia will convene the second edition of the Border Defence Friendship Exchange on November 13 and 14, 2025.
Co-chaired by Vietnam’s Minister of National Defence and Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, the programme will take place across the border area of Tây Ninh Province in Vietnam and Svay Rieng Province in Cambodia.
The two-day exchange will include a range of activities such as welcome and farewell ceremonies, friendship tree-planting, joint military medical drills, and the inauguration of a semi-boarding classroom at Ben Cau Primary School in Tây Ninh. A twinning ceremony between border communities in Long Cuong Hamlet (Vietnam) and O Ta Mo Hamlet (Cambodia) will also be held to foster closer ties between local residents.
On the Cambodian side, activities will feature the painting of Border Marker No. 171, a joint patrol by border management forces, the groundbreaking of Sang Sovan Primary School in Svay Teap District, and a visit to the Svay Rieng Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
In preparation for the event, both sides have already conducted several initiatives, including joint medical check-ups and the distribution of free medicine to border residents. Additional efforts such as scholarship programmes for young officers, the donation of breeding cattle to local communities, and final inspections of venues and logistics have also taken place.
Officials have noted that the exchange highlights the traditional friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. It aims to strengthen peace, stability, and development in the shared border region, while fostering people-to-people connections and mutual understanding between the two nations.
