Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 23 – The outgoing Sri Lankan Ambassador to Cambodia, Colonne Appuhamillage Chaminda Inoka Colonne, committed to a continued effort to fortify the ties and collaboration between Cambodia and Sri Lanka.

During her farewell visit to the Cambodian Ministry on July 22, 2024, Ambassador Colonne engaged with Cambodian Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea to mark the conclusion of her term.

While expressing deep gratitude, Ambassador Colonne acknowledged the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Foreign Ministry for their steadfast support during her ambassadorial mandate in Cambodia. Highlighting the successful diplomacy between the two nations, she appreciated the welcoming environment and the constructive bilateral engagements that marked her tenure.

The meeting between Ambassador Colonne and Minister Sophea was filled with reflective acknowledgement of the substantial linkages between their countries. It brought illustrative insights on how both nations can propel forward with advancing trade, investment, and tourism—a set of mutual interests that promise reciprocal benefits for the people and economies of both participating countries.

The discussions included a sincere willingness from both parties to foster stronger connections, not just bilaterally but also within regional and global arenas. The establishment of these broad-based collaborations was seen as a fundamental goal, to nurture and leverage shared visions for growth and prosperity.

As the dialogue unfolded, there was a shared acknowledgment of the lived history of camaraderie and the desire to pursue more effective and expansive cooperative undertakings. In the spirit of continuity, both representatives agreed on the importance of maintaining the momentum gained in diplomatic relations and exploring new avenues to enrich their partnership.

With her diplomatic mission coming to an end, Ambassador Colonne underscored her intention to continue her advocacy for closer ties between Cambodia and Sri Lanka even beyond her ambassadorial role. As her chapter closed, it became clear that the foundations laid during her term served not just as a bridge between the two countries but also as a scaffold for future engagements poised to achieve greater heights in diplomatic kinship and international collaboration.
