Osaka, Japan — July 7, 2025:
The Kingdom of Cambodia marked a significant milestone on the international stage with a vibrant celebration of “Cambodia National Day” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The event was organized by the Ministry of Commerce, which also serves as the Inter-ministerial Committee for the Preparation and Participation in World and International Trade Expositions.
Held in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, the event was presided over by H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and High Representative of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. H.E. Fuji Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, also attended as a high-ranking Japanese representative, underscoring the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
More than 500 guests took part in the celebration, including Cambodian and Japanese delegations, ASEAN representatives, diplomats from partner countries, Cambodian nationals living in Japan, and other international attendees.
The “Cambodia National Day” programme was designed to present Cambodia’s diverse and dynamic potential across key sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, and cultural heritage. The festivities highlighted Cambodia’s ongoing development and its commitment to becoming a competitive participant in the global economy.

A series of traditional cultural performances captivated the audience, offering a window into the country’s artistic heritage. Highlights included the graceful Apsara Dance, the ancient Sbek Thom (shadow puppet theatre), the Kujori and Kujerong folk performances, the Peacock Dance of Pailin, the Preah Sangha Dance, and the Coconut Shell Dance. A National Day Parade, moving from the Grand Ring to the Cambodia Pavilion, added energy and spectacle to the occasion.
A key component of the day was the signing of a memorandum of understanding, reinforcing Cambodia’s commitment to international collaboration and development. A commemorative cocktail reception concluded the day’s events, providing an opportunity for guests to network and engage with Cambodian officials and cultural ambassadors.
For Expo 2025, which runs from April 13 to October 13, Cambodia selected the historic Koh Ker Temple as the central inspiration for its national pavilion design. Located in Preah Vihear province, Koh Ker is a UNESCO-listed archaeological site, reflecting the Kingdom’s ancient grandeur and architectural innovation.
Since the opening of the Expo, the Cambodia Pavilion has welcomed approximately 800,000 visitors, making it one of the most engaging and culturally rich exhibits at the event. The pavilion not only showcases the country’s artistic and architectural legacy but also serves as a platform to attract investment and build strategic partnerships.
Cambodia’s strong presence at Expo 2025 Osaka underscores its growing role in the regional and global arena and reaffirms its vision of sustainable development powered by cultural pride, international cooperation, and economic ambition.
