Enhanced Cooperation on Nuclear Security Discussed Between Cambodia and the US

On February 21, 2024, a significant meeting took place between His Excellency KE Sovann, the Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and His Excellency Frank A. Rose, the Principal Deputy Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration and Deputy Under Secretary for Nuclear Security at the US Department of Energy. The primary focus of their discussion was on deepening collaboration in the fields of nuclear security and non-proliferation, with a particular emphasis on bolstering Cambodia’s capabilities in these critical areas.

The dialogue provided an opportunity for both parties to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation and to share perspectives on the strategic importance of strengthening nuclear security measures and non-proliferation initiatives. The meeting underscored the mutual interest in promoting peace and security in the region through responsible nuclear management and cooperation.
