Kampot — Kampot province saw a surge of holidaymakers during this year’s Pchum Ben festival, as more than 146,000 tourists—both Cambodian and international—flocked to the coastal province to enjoy its natural and cultural attractions.
Between September 20 and 23, 2025, Kampot welcomed 144,901 local visitors and 1,762 international travelers, according to figures released by the provincial tourism department.
Soy Sinol, Director of the Kampot Provincial Tourism Department, noted that the festival followed its traditional rhythm, with families first gathering to make offerings at pagodas before heading out to relax and explore. “Even with frequent rains, visitors came in large numbers to enjoy Kampot’s resorts and tourist communities,” he said.
Among the most visited destinations were the Phnom Bokor resort area, Teuk Chhou stream, Kon Chat’s agro-tourism zone, community-based tourism sites, and Tumnop Melek resort. Hotels and guesthouses across the province reported near full occupancy, a trend that has continued during Pchum Ben for the past four years.
Officials said the atmosphere remained calm, with no incidents or unusual price hikes in services. “Tourism during this year’s Pchum Ben was smooth, and visitors were able to enjoy their stays without disruptions,” Mr. Sinol emphasized.
With its mix of mountain landscapes, riverside charm, and eco-tourism activities, Kampot continues to solidify its reputation as a top choice for festival-goers looking for both relaxation and adventure.
