The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MLVT) has launched a new online service portal, the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS), aimed at simplifying the process for obtaining and renewing work permits for foreign nationals in Cambodia. This digital initiative is set to revolutionize the way work permits are managed, offering a seamless and efficient platform for both applicants and authorities.
The FWCMS platform is designed to cater to a wide array of services related to the management of foreign workforce permits. This includes applications for work permits, quota allocations for foreign workers, and other related administrative functions. The system promises a user-friendly interface, making it accessible for users to manage their permit needs remotely and efficiently.
Kata Orn, a prominent official and spokesperson for the MLVT, recently highlighted the benefits of the new online system. He pointed out that the platform is not only convenient but also available round the clock, enabling employers and foreign workers to submit applications and manage their permits without geographical or time constraints.
The system supports a variety of services, which are detailed on the MLVT’s official website. These services are aimed at both employers and foreign workers, encompassing the issuance of work permits, registration of foreign employment contracts, and more. Additionally, the website provides comprehensive guides and forms in English to facilitate the application process.
This digital transformation aligns with the MLVT’s broader strategy to modernize its services and enhance the efficiency of employment, social security, and vocational training systems in Cambodia. It is also in harmony with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s vision for digital governance.
Industry experts, including Tan Khee Meng from Baker Tilly (Cambodia) Co. Ltd., have praised the initiative. They believe that the new system will not only streamline compliance with labor laws but also reinforce a secure and regulated environment for foreign workers in Cambodia.
The MLVT has issued reminders for foreign investors and workers to ensure their work permits are renewed by the specified deadlines, emphasizing the importance of adherence to the country’s labor regulations to avoid potential legal repercussions.
The introduction of the FWCMS is a significant step towards enhancing the operational framework for foreign workers in Cambodia, promising a more organized and user-friendly approach to work permit applications and renewals.
