H.E. Samheng Boros had a courtesy meeting with Ms. Armida Saliah Alisjahbana, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and UNESCAP Chair, while in Bangkok for the UNESCAP meeting to discuss enhancing collaboration between UNESCAP and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia on three main tasks:
1. Input preparation; overall assessment of Cambodia’s readiness to strengthen regional cooperation on social protection.
2. The senior citizen policy.
3. Capacity building on the use of the “Do Not Leave Anyone Alone (LNOB)” database and the Social Protection Online Tool (SPOT).
In order to improve and expand its social protection system over the past ten years, the Cambodian government has shown significant political leadership. This commitment included the development of the National Social Protection Policy Framework (NSPPF) 2016–2025, which served as the foundation for a long-term strategic plan to create an efficient and open social protection system.
As the ASEAN Chair, Cambodia is closely collaborating with the other ASEAN members to create a regional guideline on the social service workforce. By the end of 2022, the guideline will be completed.
