In a significant move to reinforce Cambodia’s commitment to regional cooperation and stability, His Excellency PRAK Nguon Hong, Secretary of State, represented Cambodia at the 7th Indian Ocean Conference. This notable event, which took place on February 9-10, 2024, in Perth, Australia, was centered around the theme “Towards a Stable and Sustainable Indian Ocean”. The conference brought together delegates from various nations to discuss and strategize on fostering a more stable and sustainable environment within the Indian Ocean region.
Acting on behalf of His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Secretary of State PRAK Nguon Hong articulated Cambodia’s strategic priorities in the region. He underscored the nation’s dedication to bolstering the centrality and unity of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). By doing so, Cambodia aims to strengthen the collective voice and cooperation among ASEAN member states, ensuring that the region remains a key player in international affairs.
Moreover, PRAK Nguon Hong emphasized Cambodia’s support for a rules-based international order that upholds inclusivity and multilateralism.
