The 32nd Southeast Asian Games and ASEAN Para Games have officially kicked off in Cambodia, with the opening ceremony taking place at the Morodok Techo National Stadium. Prime Minister Hun Sen received the highest medal from Ng Ser Miang, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, in recognition of his long-term vision and leadership in promoting sports in the country.

The medal, designed by Pierre de Coubertin, the founding father of the modern Olympics, is dedicated to heads of state and government who have contributed significantly to the development of sports in their countries. Ng Ser Miang congratulated Cambodia for hosting the games and praised Prime Minister Hun Sen’s efforts to make sports accessible to all and promote peace and friendship through them.

The games will see 100,890 athletes and officials from different countries competing in 579 disciplines across 36 sports. The opening ceremony was a magnificent display of Cambodia’s rich history and culture, showcasing the ancient Khmer civilization to the modern-day progress made by the country.
