Over 6.3 million people celebrated the Khmer New Year during the first two days of the event, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The festivities took place at various tourist destinations throughout the country.

On the second day of the Khmer New Year, a staggering 4,237,780 guests, including both expatriates and local visitors, joined in the celebrations. This marked a 101% increase compared to the attendance on the first day of this year’s celebrations.

Despite inclement weather in some areas, with attendees even braving the rain, the celebrations continued in full swing, as noted in the ministry’s statement.

The highest footfall was recorded in the following major provinces:

Siem Reap: 653,679 people
Kampong Cham: 515,129 people
Kampot: 404,058 people
Battambang: 400,273 people
Phnom Penh: 326,327 people

Kampong Chhnang: 239,590 people
Banteay Meanchey: 220,577 people
Kampong Speu: approximately 202,162 people
These impressive numbers show the growing popularity and importance of the Khmer New Year celebrations in the country.
