In a significant development that underscores the deepening relationship between Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet recently welcomed Ambassador Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri to the Peace Palace. This meeting marked a pivotal moment in their ongoing diplomatic engagement, with both nations looking to enhance their cooperation across a broad spectrum of sectors.

Ambassador Aldhaheri, representing the UAE, expressed his commitment to extending the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, energy, and tourism. This commitment comes in the wake of the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), a landmark deal that has been instrumental in bolstering the ties between the two nations. The ambassador praised the achievements in diplomatic relations, particularly highlighting the CEPA as a cornerstone for future collaboration.

Prime Minister Hun Manet reciprocated the enthusiasm and appreciation for the solid progress made in diplomatic relations, emphasizing the mutual benefits brought about by the CEPA. Under this agreement, Cambodia and the UAE are set to explore further opportunities that promise mutual growth and development.

The Royal Government of Cambodia, as outlined by Samdech Thipadei, is prioritizing investment in critical sectors such as infrastructure, clean energy, tourism, agriculture, and technology. These areas are deemed essential for driving job growth, ensuring equity, enhancing efficiency, and promoting sustainability in line with Cambodia’s resources and environmental goals. Notably, Cambodia has achieved remarkable progress in its clean energy initiatives, with clean energy now constituting 62% of its total energy consumption. The nation aims to increase this figure to 70% by 2030 while discontinuing the construction of coal-powered plants in a shift towards renewable energy projects.

Tourism also remains a key focus, with the government implementing package measures to stimulate and promote this sector. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that through robust cooperation with the UAE, tourist numbers would continue to rise, bringing economic and cultural benefits to both countries.

Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged Ambassador Aldhaheri to maintain and enhance the cooperation with various Cambodian ministries and institutions. This partnership is expected to advance collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, and other promising sectors, paving the way for a future of shared prosperity and mutual respect between Cambodia and the UAE.

This diplomatic engagement not only reinforces the strong ties between Cambodia and the UAE but also sets a dynamic course for future collaborations that will benefit both nations extensively. As they continue to build on this foundation, the promise of a thriving partnership looms large, promising significant impacts on their economies and the well-being of their people.
