Cambodia Welcomes Impressive Stream of Tourists during New Year’s Holidays

The Ministry of Tourism in Cambodia has reported a significant influx of over three million tourists during the three-day holiday period surrounding the New Year. From December 30, 2023, to January 1, 2024, a total of 3,227,146 tourists visited the kingdom, with 58,722 of them being international tourists.

The top five capital-provinces that stood out as the most popular destinations among tourists during this period were Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Kampot, Siem Reap, and Battambang.

Phnom Penh emerged as the leading attraction, drawing in 610,356 tourists. The capital city’s bustling streets, historical sites, and vibrant culture offered an immersive experience for visitors during the New Year festivities.

Sihanoukville, known for its stunning beaches and resort atmosphere, welcomed 472,697 tourists. Its pristine coastline and exciting water activities made it a popular choice for those seeking relaxation and adventure.

Kampot, with its charming riverside setting and picturesque landscapes, attracted 427,495 tourists. The province’s laid-back ambiance, pepper plantations, and French colonial architecture provided a unique and refreshing experience for visitors.

Siem Reap, home to the majestic Angkor Wat temple complex and other historical sites, greeted 377,219 tourists. The UNESCO World Heritage site continues to captivate travelers with its rich cultural heritage and awe-inspiring architecture.

Battambang, with its well-preserved colonial architecture, ancient temples, and vibrant arts scene, rounded out the top five with 346,333 tourists. The province’s unique blend of history, art, and natural beauty captivated the imaginations of both local and international visitors.

The significant number of tourists during the New Year’s holidays speaks to Cambodia’s allure as a captivating travel destination. The kingdom’s diverse offerings, ranging from historical landmarks to natural wonders, cultural experiences to exciting adventures, continue to attract visitors from around the globe.

The Ministry of Tourism has been committed to promoting Cambodia as a must-visit destination, working to enhance infrastructure and services to provide an exceptional experience for tourists.
