During the announcement of the 5th and 6th Priority Policy Programmes of the New Government, Cambodian Prime Minister Dr. Hun Manet reminded the public of an agreement signed between the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce and Alibaba during his recent visit to China. According to the Prime Minister, the agreement allows Cambodian products to be sold through Alibaba’s platform.

During his visit to China, the Ministry of Commerce signed the agreement with Alibaba, a global e-commerce giant with millions of customers worldwide. The Prime Minister mentioned that Alibaba requested access to the technology platform to showcase Cambodian products directly to their vast customer base. This eliminates the need for intermediaries and agents. The platform allows Cambodian sellers to showcase various products, including agricultural goods, handicrafts, and local products.

During his visit, the Prime Minister observed the successful sale of longan from Cambodia’s Pailin Province on the Alibaba website. This initial sale of a container of longan demonstrated the potential for Cambodian products to reach a global market through the e-commerce platform.

The agreement with Alibaba opens up new opportunities for Cambodian sellers to directly sell their products to customers without the need for intermediaries. By leveraging Alibaba’s platform, Cambodian sellers can access hundreds of millions of potential customers worldwide.

The Prime Minister’s reminder of the agreement with Alibaba highlights the government’s efforts to promote and expand Cambodia’s exports. The agreement enables sellers to tap into the global market and showcase the quality and diversity of Cambodian products. This initiative is aligned with the government’s priority policies to support economic growth and stimulate trade.

Through the partnership with Alibaba, Cambodian sellers can leverage the platform’s established infrastructure and customer base, benefiting from its extensive reach and market penetration. By eliminating intermediaries, sellers can have direct control over the selling process and maximize their profits.

Overall, the agreement with Alibaba represents a significant step towards expanding Cambodia’s export capabilities and increasing its presence in the global market. It creates opportunities for local businesses and producers to reach a larger customer base, contributing to economic growth and development in Cambodia.
