On August 23, 2024, H.E. Samheng Boros, Minister attached to the Prime Minister, hosted a significant meeting with Hong Reaksmey, Chair of the Board of the Australian Alumni Association of Cambodia (AAA-C), and esteemed members of the association at the Peace Palace, Office of the Council of Ministers. This meeting provided an excellent platform to engage in meaningful discussions on topics central to the mission of AAA-C and leadership development in Cambodia.

The Australian Alumni Association of Cambodia is a vital non-profit and non-political organization dedicated to bringing together Cambodians who have pursued tertiary or vocational education in Australia. With a membership base of approximately 700 professionals, AAA-C represents a diverse cross-section of society, including government officials, business leaders, academics, researchers, and individuals from both the public and private sectors. This diversity enriches the association, making it a powerful force for positive change in Cambodia.

During the meeting, H.E. Samheng Boros and the AAA-C team explored various ways to further the association’s mission. The discussion highlighted the importance of fostering strong connections between Cambodian alumni and their Australian counterparts, both within and beyond Cambodia’s borders. By doing so, AAA-C aims to contribute significantly to the well-being of Cambodian society, ensuring that the skills and knowledge gained by alumni are used effectively in national development efforts.

The AAA-C’s commitment to bringing together Australian alumni in a way that positively supports the association’s objectives was emphasized. The association’s dedication to professionalism, responsibility, and collaboration was a key theme throughout the meeting, reinforcing the shared vision of building a well-connected community of Australian-educated Cambodians.

This meeting underscores the strong bonds between Cambodia and Australia, strengthened by the shared experiences and educational ties that unite their people. Through such collaborations, Cambodia continues to progress on its path to prosperity, leveraging the expertise and global perspectives of its citizens who have studied abroad.

The discussions held during the meeting mark a positive step forward in deepening the relationship between the Cambodian government and the Australian Alumni Association of Cambodia. As AAA-C continues to grow, its contributions will play an important role in shaping the future of Cambodia, aligning with broader goals of national development and international cooperation.

H.E. Samheng Boros expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage with such a dynamic and committed group of professionals, reaffirming his support for AAA-C’s initiatives. The Minister looks forward to continued collaboration, with the shared goal of driving positive change and fostering leadership that will benefit all Cambodians.
