Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has announced an upcoming official visit to Japan scheduled for next month, with a clear focus on attracting increased Japanese investment into Cambodia. The announcement was made on Monday, April 7, during the inauguration ceremony of the USD 37 million Morodok Techo flyover in Phnom Penh.
“I will pay an official visit to Japan next month. We are preparing plans to attract more Japanese investors,” the Prime Minister stated, highlighting Cambodia’s strategic efforts to strengthen economic partnerships in the region.
He also extended an open invitation to investors from around the world, particularly from Japan, the United States, and India, to explore opportunities across all sectors in Cambodia. “We welcome all foreign investors,” he affirmed.
Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the government’s practical and results-driven approach. “This government may speak less, but it delivers more,” he said, underscoring a commitment to effective and action-oriented governance.
The Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Japan aligns with a broader wave of diplomatic engagement in the region. Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit Cambodia, Malaysia, and Viet Nam in mid-April 2025. These high-level visits are expected to further position Cambodia as a regional hub for trade, investment, and cooperation.
The Cambodian government continues to prioritize economic diplomacy as a key pillar of its development strategy, seeking to attract quality investment that drives growth, generates employment, and fosters innovation across the country.
