In 2020, B.R.B. Cambodia was founded with a mission to promote and support Cambodian handicraft products. The company began by working with home-based artisans who faced numerous challenges, including finding markets, sourcing raw materials, attracting customers, and designing their products. Observing these difficulties, B.R.B. Cambodia established Satcha, an incubation program aimed at training and nurturing these talented artisans to become successful entrepreneurs.
Satcha’s incubation program offers a range of soft skill training courses, including language, marketing, communication, designing, business creation methodology, and other technical training. The goal is to equip these artisans with the necessary tools and knowledge to become independent and sustainable entrepreneurs. Satcha’s plan is to work with artisans for three to four years, providing them with the required training, and eventually setting up incubation workshops in every province of Cambodia to help craftspeople facing similar challenges.
Since May 2023, Satcha has been offering English and Khmer language classes to 32 out of 40 selected artisans. The classes are divided into three groups, with English classes held three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and Khmer classes on Saturday mornings. Satcha is also working on introducing additional courses as planned.
Cambodian craftspeople possess incredible talent and skill in producing handmade products, having learned their craft from elder generations or parents. However, due to the informal nature of their training, they often miss out on the opportunity to develop soft skills that would enable them to become successful entrepreneurs. Satcha aims to change this by providing these artisans with the necessary soft skills, allowing them to take control of their own talents and businesses.
The soft skill training courses offered by Satcha include:
- English
- Khmer
- Marketing (online & offline)
- Communication
- History
- Costing
- Designing
- Entrepreneurship
- Leadership
- Technical Skills
By providing comprehensive training and support, Satcha is playing a vital role in empowering Cambodian artisans to become self-sufficient entrepreneurs. This initiative not only preserves the rich cultural heritage of Cambodian handicrafts but also contributes to sustainable development in the country. Through their efforts, Satcha is paving the way for a brighter future for Cambodian artisans and their communities.
