Miss Khan Jessa of Cambodia won a gold medal at the Ju-Jitsu World Championship 2022 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In the 52-kilogramme-weight event, Jessa defeated her Spanish opponent, Matthews Martin Naiomi.
Cambodia has sent three athletes to the Ju-Jitsu World Championship 2022. On Nov. 3, Mr. Hour Senghong will compete in the 69-kilogramme weight class, while Mr. Thorn Andrew will compete in the 62-kilogramme weight class.
Mr. Seng Bunsong, President of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation of Cambodia, saw the competition as an excellent opportunity for Cambodian Jiu-Jitsu athletes to sharpen and develop their skills in preparation for the SEA Games 2023, which Cambodia will host.
Khan Jessa, a Cambodian-Mexican-American, has won numerous world titles in recent years. She is also the gold medalist for Cambodia at the 2022 Pen Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the United States, the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia, and the ASEAN Games 2019 in the Philippines.
H.E Samheng Boros, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, Royal Government of Cambodia, and Chairman of the National Social Assistance Fund Board (NSAF), as well as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY), congratulated Khan Jessa.
