A United States Navy warship has docked at Cambodia’s Ream Naval Base, marking a new step in naval engagement between Cambodia and the United States. The visit highlights ongoing efforts by both countries to maintain cooperation and communication in the Indo-Pacific region.
The US Navy littoral combat ship, USS Cincinnati, arrived at the base in southwestern Cambodia for a scheduled port visit. Officials from both sides described the visit as routine and professional. It is the first visit by a US naval vessel to Ream Naval Base since recent upgrades were completed.
During the stay, the crew of the USS Cincinnati is taking part in planned activities with the Cambodian Navy. These include ship tours, courtesy meetings, and professional exchanges. The activities are intended to improve understanding, support cooperation, and strengthen working relations between the two navies.
US officials said the port call supports efforts to promote safety and stability in regional waters. Cambodian authorities stated that the visit reflects the country’s approach of engaging openly with international partners through cooperative defense activities.
Ream Naval Base is located along Cambodia’s southern coastline, near important maritime routes. The base plays a role in regional maritime operations due to its strategic location. In recent years, it has undergone development and modernization, attracting international attention. Cambodian officials have repeatedly stated that the base is meant for defensive use and international cooperation.
The visit comes as Cambodia and the United States continue to strengthen defense ties after disruptions in recent years. Naval port visits like this are commonly used to maintain dialogue, build trust, and support long-term cooperation.
