Phnom Penh — Lida Eve, Cambodia’s pioneering virtual influencer and winner of Best Digital Content of the Year at the Cambodia Digital Awards 2025, is moving into a new form of storytelling with the launch of “វិ ញ្ញា សាស្នេហ៍ – Love Exam,” an AI-led micro drama believed to be among the first of its kind in Cambodia.
The project marks an important step for Cambodia’s digital creative industry. It brings together virtual influencer technology, human writing, AI-assisted production, Khmer youth culture, and short-form drama in a format designed for the way audiences now watch stories: short, emotional, mobile-first, and character-driven.
Lida Eve first gained national attention as a virtual personality created in Cambodia, with a defined identity, bilingual storytelling, and a growing audience that connected with her as more than just a digital experiment. Her recognition at the Cambodia Digital Awards 2025 under the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications placed her among Cambodia’s strongest examples of local digital content innovation.
Now, the next step is story.
“Love Exam” follows Lida, a university student in Phnom Penh who is trying to balance family expectations, part-time work, academic pressure, friendship, and first love. After struggling in economics, she is paired with Lay, a brilliant but emotionally guarded senior student. What begins as tutoring slowly turns into a story about confidence, class pressure, ambition, self-worth, and the quiet fear of not being enough.
The first season is planned as a 24-episode micro drama, structured across six acts and released over three months. The story is built around short episodes, emotional cliffhangers, and familiar youth experiences, from campus life and café shifts to late-night study sessions and the pressure to succeed.
For Cambodia, the project is significant not only because it uses AI, but because it uses AI in service of a local story.
At a time when micro dramas are growing across Asia and beyond, “Love Exam” gives Cambodia a chance to enter the format with its own voice. The series is not trying to copy global trends. It is trying to show that Cambodian creators can use new technology to tell stories that still feel close, human, and culturally grounded.
