GUANGZHOU, China — Sihanoukville Governor Mang Sineth led a high-level provincial delegation to Guangzhou to present Preah Sihanouk province as a premier destination for smart manufacturing, automotive assembly, advanced technology, and green industrial investment.
Speaking at the “China-Cambodia Collaboration: Smart Manufacturing for ASEAN” forum, Governor Sineth positioned the coastal province as a strategic gateway for enterprises across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area seeking to expand supply networks and relocate production facilities within Southeast Asia.
The forum was coordinated by ISI Group in collaboration with SunWah Group, bringing together approximately 50 Chinese enterprises, business associations, and professional service providers.
Strategic Advantages for ASEAN Production Relocation
Addressing investors in Guangzhou, Governor Sineth emphasized that Sihanoukville offers a well-established industrial and logistics framework engineered to support international supply chains:
- Production Relocation Hub: Sihanoukville provides Chinese manufacturers with a strategic entry point into ASEAN markets, supported by duty-free trade arrangements and regional economic integration.
- Deep-Water Maritime Connectivity: The province hosts Cambodia’s sole international deep-water port, the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), currently undergoing multi-phase expansion to accommodate larger international container vessels.
- High-Speed Inland Logistics: The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway delivers a direct, two-hour freight link between the nation’s capital and coastal export terminals.
- Pro-Business Governance: The provincial administration highlighted rapid investor facilitation, transparent licensing procedures, and dedicated support mechanisms under the slogan, “Investors’ success is our happiness.”
During a dedicated dialogue session, provincial officials, master plan coordinators, and ISI Group leadership held direct consultations with business representatives, detailing Qualified Investment Project (QIP) incentives and master plan infrastructure projects.
Evaluating Advanced Automotive Automation
As part of the roadshow, the Cambodian delegation toured advanced industrial facilities in Guangzhou, observing modern automated production lines equipped with robotic welding and precision assembly arms.
Provincial leaders met with automotive executives to discuss potential joint ventures and component manufacturing partnerships. The initiative directly aligns with Cambodia’s broader economic diversification strategy, which seeks to transition Sihanoukville from traditional light assembly into a multi-purpose Special Economic Zone (SEZ) driven by high-tech industries, automotive parts, and green manufacturing.
