In a major step towards deepening bilateral cooperation, Cambodia and China signed and announced a total of 37 cooperation documents during a high-level ceremony held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this evening.
The ceremony was presided over by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, following their bilateral discussions earlier in the day.
Of the 37 agreements, 22 were formally exchanged in the presence of both leaders, while 15 others were officially announced.
These cooperation documents span a wide array of sectors including trade, economy, agriculture, artificial intelligence, youth development, human resource training, sports, media, healthcare, tourism, culture, and water resource management, reflecting the broad scope and ambition of the two countries’ collaboration.
H.E. Xi Jinping arrived in Phnom Penh this morning at the head of a senior Chinese delegation for a two-day state visit, following an invitation from His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
According to a statement from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the visit marks a historic moment in Cambodia-China relations. It reinforces the traditional ties of friendship cultivated by successive generations of leaders and contributes to building a Cambodia-China community with a shared future.
This milestone visit is expected to add fresh momentum to the ironclad friendship and further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
