The Science, Technology, and Innovation National Laboratory (STINL) was officially inaugurated today as a public administration institution, marking a transformative step in Cambodia’s journey toward industrial, scientific, and economic growth.
Presiding over the inauguration, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, emphasized STINL’s pivotal role in ensuring product quality and safety, fostering innovation, and bolstering Cambodia’s industrial sector to thrive in both domestic and export markets.
“With internationally recognized standards like ISO/IEC 17025 and accreditations from Singapore and Australia, STINL minimizes the need for businesses to send products abroad for testing. This advancement enhances efficiency, reduces costs, and strengthens Cambodia’s position in global markets,” Minister Vanndy highlighted.
STINL has over three decades of expertise in product testing and analysis. It transitioned to a public administration institution on June 20, 2024, granting it greater autonomy, operational flexibility, and the capacity to expand its services. Notably, by 2025, the laboratory will introduce testing for mechanical, electrical, and electronic products, further broadening its scope of services.
Dr. Yuk Sokunsreiroat, Chief Executive Officer of STINL, underscored the institution’s readiness to meet Cambodia’s growing industrial and scientific demands. “Armed with cutting-edge technology and a highly skilled team, we are committed to driving innovation, improving standards, and contributing to the sustainable development of Cambodia,” she stated.
The inauguration featured open-house sessions, where stakeholders—including entrepreneurs, producers, and exporters—had the opportunity to witness the laboratory’s advanced capabilities firsthand.
Accredited by SAC-SINGLAS (Singapore) and NATA (Australia), STINL offers a wide range of testing services, including microbiological, food, water, and non-food product analyses, all meeting stringent international standards. These services significantly enhance Cambodia’s global competitiveness.
Minister Vanndy encouraged collaboration between STINL and other laboratories to elevate regional and international recognition of Cambodia’s testing services. “Such partnerships will ensure high standards, consistency, and comparability of results, building trust in Cambodia’s testing capabilities,” he remarked.
As part of its commitment to transparency and digital transformation, STINL unveiled a new website aimed at promoting research, innovation, and accessible services. This platform incorporates verify.gov.kh, a system enabling the quick and reliable verification of test certificates, thereby enhancing trust and credibility.
STINL aspires to become a leading laboratory, driving innovation, quality testing, and analysis to empower industries and small and medium enterprises to compete effectively on both national and international stages.
