Washington D.C., Nov. 4, 2025 — H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), led a high-level delegation to meet with representatives of GE Vernova, a leading U.S. energy-technology company, to explore collaboration on Cambodia’s sustainable energy transition.
During the meeting, held at GE Vernova’s Washington D.C. office, H.E. Sun Chanthol briefed Mr. George A. Pickart, Director of Government Affairs and Global Policy, on the Royal Government of Cambodia’s vision to build a stable, affordable, and environmentally friendly energy system. He emphasised Cambodia’s commitment to modernising its energy infrastructure and strengthening national grid systems in alignment with global renewable-energy trends.
The Deputy Prime Minister encouraged GE Vernova to expand its current engagement in Cambodia by investing in Smart Grid Solutions, energy management, and storage technologies. These advancements, he noted, would help the Kingdom improve energy efficiency and reliability across industries and communities.
Mr. Pickart commended Cambodia’s economic progress and acknowledged the country’s growing focus on clean-energy development. On behalf of GE Vernova, he expressed the company’s readiness to continue providing technical support and strategic consultation to Cambodian institutions in areas such as long-term energy policy formulation and implementation of international standards.
The meeting reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in Cambodia’s key energy-infrastructure projects. The CDC, acting as the Royal Government’s single gateway for investment coordination, will continue working closely with GE Vernova to ensure that modern energy-technology projects align with Cambodia’s national climate-action goals.
H.E. Sun Chanthol’s visit forms part of a wider “knock-door mission” to the United States, an initiative designed to attract investment and deepen trade relations through direct engagement with international partners. In addition to GE Vernova, the delegation has held meetings with major U.S. corporations such as McDonald’s Corporation and Medline Industries, exploring potential investment opportunities in Cambodia’s food, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.
