PHNOM PENH — The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) of the Republic of Korea have pledged to deepen cooperation to expand foreign direct investment and advance workforce skills training across the Kingdom.

The agreement was reinforced during a high-level bilateral meeting in Phnom Penh between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, and Mr. Park Joo-bong, President of the ICCI.
Driving Foreign Investment via Korean Enterprise Partnerships
H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted the success of the Incheon-Cambodia Investment Promotion Forum 2026, organized in late June, noting that joint promotion efforts are actively positioning Cambodia as a prime investment destination for South Korean capital.
Mr. Park Joo-bong reported strong momentum following the June campaign, which gained widespread media exposure across 38 South Korean news outlets. This campaign generated substantial interest from several major Korean enterprises, particularly within:
- Furniture Manufacturing: Expanding industrial processing capacity for global export markets.
- Agricultural Processing: Upgrading local supply chains and value-addition capabilities in agro-industry.
Technical Skills Training Centre at NPIC
To meet rising demand for specialized technical labor, the ICCI revealed plans to establish a dedicated technical skills training centre in partnership with the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.
Key details of the human resource development project include:
- Framework MoU: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed shortly between the involved institutions.
- CDC Facilitation: H.E. Sun Chanthol pledged full support and inter-agency coordination from the CDC on behalf of the Royal Government.
- Workforce Readiness: The centre is designed to bridge the technical skill gap and supply a qualified local workforce tailored to upcoming Korean manufacturing and industrial facilities.
The CDC encouraged the ICCI to continue highlighting Cambodia’s political stability, favorable economic prospects, and investor incentives to South Korea’s business community as both sides work to sustain long-term trade growth.
