The newly-constructed Dara Sakor Airport in Koh Kong province, southwest Cambodia, has officially commenced regular domestic flight operations, marking a milestone in enhancing connectivity to the country’s coastal regions.
Cambodia Airways operated the inaugural flight on Friday using an Airbus A320, linking Phnom Penh International Airport with Dara Sakor Airport. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, Secretary of State at the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, confirmed the launch, noting that the route will strengthen travel options for both tourists and investors heading to Cambodia’s southern coastline and nearby islands.
“This first domestic flight to Dara Sakor will help promote tourism and investment by improving access to the region,” Vutha said.
According to the current schedule, one weekly flight will operate every Friday. It departs Phnom Penh at 3:20 p.m. and arrives in Dara Sakor at 3:50 p.m. Since there is no return flight yet, passengers are advised to use ground transportation, such as buses, for their return journey.
Developed by Coastal Airport Investment Co., Ltd., the airport spans 218 hectares in its initial development phase and involved an investment of approximately $200 million.
Dara Sakor Airport becomes Cambodia’s fourth operational airport, joining Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, and Sihanouk International Airport in strengthening the country’s aviation network.
