Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and First Lady Pich Chanmony Hun Manet will embark on an official working visit to Japan from May 28 to 31, 2025, at the invitation of the Government of Japan. The visit marks a significant step in reinforcing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
Accompanying the Prime Minister and the First Lady will be Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn, along with other senior government officials, ministers, and key representatives from Cambodia’s private sector, reflecting the depth and breadth of the bilateral relationship.
During the visit, Prime Minister Hun Manet is scheduled to hold a high-level bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru. He will also engage in separate meetings with prominent members of Japan’s National Diet, underlining the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering mutual cooperation.
A key highlight of the visit will be Prime Minister Hun Manet’s keynote address at the 30th Nikkei Forum on the “Future of Asia”—a prestigious platform that brings together political and business leaders from across the continent to discuss critical economic and geopolitical issues shaping Asia’s future. His participation underscores Cambodia’s growing regional presence and its commitment to contributing to the dialogue on Asia’s development.
Additionally, Prime Minister Hun Manet will attend and participate in the Cambodia–Japan Business Forum, where he is expected to promote investment opportunities in Cambodia and highlight the country’s pro-business reforms, infrastructure initiatives, and human capital development strategies. This forum will serve as a vital platform to connect Japanese and Cambodian enterprises, explore joint ventures, and discuss expanding trade and investment ties.
The Cambodian delegation will also engage with the Cambodian diaspora in Japan during a community meeting aimed at strengthening bonds with overseas nationals and updating them on Cambodia’s progress and priorities under the current administration.
This visit marks a reaffirmation of the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Japan. As both countries continue to deepen their engagement under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the outcomes of this visit are expected to drive forward collaboration in trade, investment, education, infrastructure, and regional peace and stability.
