PHNOM PENH — Demonstrating steady advancement in economic, societal, and environmental indicators, Cambodia has climbed four positions to rank 15th among 30 economies in the 2026 Sustainable Trade Index (STI) published by the Hinrich Foundation.
The latest ranking highlights the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to aligning national growth policies with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Index Metrics and Progress
Produced in partnership with the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), the STI evaluates economies across three core pillars: economic growth, societal readiness, and environmental stewardship:
- Ranking Improvement: Cambodia improved its standing significantly from previous years, reflecting enhanced regulatory frameworks and greater integration into regional and global trade networks.
- Regional Integration: The assessment reviews participating economies across major regional frameworks, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which continues to serve as a vital anchor for Cambodia’s export economy.
- Sustainable Development: Policymakers attribute the upward movement to structural reforms, increased transparency, and robust cooperation with international partners to foster responsible business practices.
As global markets increasingly prioritize green supply chains and ESG compliance, the improved index placement underscores Cambodia’s growing reputation as a reliable and progressive trading partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
