Phnom Penh, July 2, 2025 — Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, hosted a grand official reception at Rosewood Phnom Penh in honour of Honourable Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, and his high-level parliamentary delegation. The event marked a key moment during the delegation’s five-day official and friendly visit to the Kingdom.
Joining Samdech Khuon Sudary at the reception were the Chairpersons of the National Assembly’s commissions, members of the Cambodia–Saudi Arabia Parliamentary Friendship Group, and senior officials from the Secretariat-General of the National Assembly. The gathering highlighted the spirit of goodwill, parliamentary diplomacy, and commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
In her welcoming remarks, Samdech Khuon Sudary described the visit as a historic milestone in the deepening of parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two countries. She praised the relationship as one built on trust, focused on people, and driven by tangible results.
Reflecting on the delegation’s ongoing engagements, Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed satisfaction with the candid and constructive dialogue held during the bilateral meeting and the courtesy call on Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate. She conveyed optimism that the upcoming meeting between the Saudi delegation and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, would further strengthen the friendship and partnership between the two Kingdoms.
Emphasising the importance of sustained high-level exchanges, Samdech noted that such interactions were essential for unlocking potential in diverse sectors, including trade, investment, energy, tourism, agriculture, and education.
She reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both nations to advancing peace, prosperity, and well-being not only for their peoples but also for the broader region and global community. “Our partnership remains strong and resilient in an ever-changing world,” she said. “We must continue to work together to uphold a rules-based international order, foster inclusive multilateralism, and amplify the voices of the Global South in shaping a multipolar world.”
Samdech Khuon Sudary also extended a warm invitation for the delegation to enjoy the Kingdom’s renowned hospitality, experience the richness of Khmer culture, and savour its traditional cuisine during their stay.
The reception concluded with a heartfelt toast led by Samdech Khuon Sudary, offering best wishes for the good health and longevity of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia and His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, as well as for the continued peace, prosperity, and enduring friendship between both nations.
The event stood out as a key highlight of the delegation’s visit, symbolising the growing trust and cooperation between the National Assembly and the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia.
