PHNOM PENH — Cambodia is accelerating policy interventions to foster Cambodia digital trade growth and strengthen the commercial competitiveness of domestic enterprises as national e-commerce revenue is projected to expand from an estimated $1.1 billion in 2025 to $1.8 billion by 2029.
Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul inaugurated the 3rd Cambodia Digital Trade Forum and Online Expo in Phnom Penh under the theme “Advancing Cambodia’s Digital Trade Toward 2030”. The three-day event, running from September 11 to 13, convenes senior government policymakers, development partners, entrepreneurs, and international stakeholders to support an inclusive and competitive digital commerce ecosystem.
Strategic Policies Accelerating Cambodia Digital Trade Growth
Addressing participants at the forum, Minister Nimul stated that the Royal Government is focused on upgrading institutional frameworks to expand market access for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), rural businesses, and women-led ventures.
To reinforce this transition, the Ministry of Commerce is formulating the Cambodia Trade Policy Framework toward 2030 alongside the Digital Trade Strategy 2025–2030. In parallel, authorities are collaborating with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications to establish clear regulatory standards governing digital intermediaries and e-commerce service providers.
The ministry also plans to expand operations on its official CambodiaTrade digital marketplace to help local producers integrate into regional supply chains. These domestic initiatives complement Cambodia’s broader economic modernization targets outlined under national economic development policies, ensuring that local enterprises establish scale, consumer trust, and cross-border commercial reach.
