Kuala Lumpur — Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet met with New Zealand Prime Minister H.E. Christopher Luxon on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Kuala Lumpur, reaffirming their nations’ shared commitment to advancing cooperation and economic engagement.
During the talks, Samdech Thipadei lauded the longstanding friendship and fruitful collaboration between Cambodia and New Zealand. He highlighted Cambodia’s steady economic growth, noting its efforts to diversify exports, enhance industrial competitiveness, and attract quality foreign investment. He emphasized that Cambodia’s participation in regional and global trade agreements provides a robust framework for expanding bilateral commerce.
The Cambodian leader encouraged New Zealand’s private sector to explore emerging investment opportunities in Cambodia, especially in agriculture, renewable energy, education, and technology-driven industries.
Prime Minister Luxon, in response, expressed his appreciation for Cambodia’s constructive role within ASEAN and welcomed the potential for greater economic and developmental cooperation between the two nations. He agreed that Cambodia and New Zealand’s complementary strengths can support mutual growth and pledged to deepen collaboration in trade, human resource development, and climate resilience.
Both leaders also exchanged views on key regional and global issues, reaffirming their joint support for peace, stability, and inclusive growth in the Asia–Pacific. Prime Minister Luxon extended gratitude to Cambodia for its support in establishing the ASEAN–New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations.
