Phnom Penh, Cambodia — Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet held a courtesy meeting with a delegation from the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 20, 2026, as part of his official visit to the United States. The discussions took place on the sidelines of international engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic and strategic ties.
The Atlantic Council delegation was led by General Jim Jones, Executive Chairman Emeritus, and Frederick Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council — a U.S.-based think tank focused on international affairs and global security. Officials from both sides exchanged views on regional stability, peace-building initiatives and Cambodia’s evolving role in international cooperation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored Cambodia’s commitment to engaging constructively with international partners on shared priorities, including peace, security and diplomatic collaboration. The courtesy call provided an opportunity for dialogue on areas of mutual interest and greater understanding between Phnom Penh and leading U.S. strategic institutions.
The discussions also took place against the backdrop of broader diplomatic activity by the Cambodian delegation in Washington, where Hun Manet participated in the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace and held additional high-level discussions with U.S. officials. These engagements reflect Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication with global partners and to contribute to constructive international dialogue.
Officials from both sides noted the importance of sustained engagement to support shared goals, including regional peace and economic cooperation. The Atlantic Council’s work in fostering policy research and international partnerships aligns with Cambodia’s interest in engaging with diverse global stakeholders as part of its evolving foreign policy agenda.
The meeting signals continued interest in strengthening bilateral understanding and cooperation between Cambodia and institutions focused on global strategic affairs. By hosting and participating in such exchanges, Cambodian leadership continues to position the country as an active participant in key international conversations.
