Despite the Covid-19 crisis, the two-way trade between Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had a significant rise of 53% to reach $150 million last year, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.
The data were discussed in a recent videoconference between Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade at the UAE Ministry of Economy, and Pan Sorasak, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce.
Minister Sorasak said that the UAE is the 26th-largest market for products from Cambodia. Textiles, footwear, travel accessories, bicycles, milled rice, and other products are frequently exported to the UAE.
In addition, Cambodia imports a lot of items from the UAE, including tobacco, fertilizers, ceramics, and petroleum.
During the meeting both sides committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the fields of trade and investment.
