PHNOM PENH — The Royal Government of Cambodia is actively pursuing increased investment in domestic agro-processing, with animal nutrition company HYPER HOPE NUTRITION (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. preparing to expand its footprint through a new soybean processing and oil extraction plant.
The strategic expansion plan was presented during a high-level bilateral meeting between H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and a corporate delegation led by company president Gong Xiang Yu.
Expanding from Livestock Feed to Oil Extraction
HYPER HOPE NUTRITION has operated an animal feed manufacturing facility in Cambodia since 2023. Capitalizing on steady production growth and favorable market conditions, the enterprise aims to extend operations further along the agro-industrial supply chain:
- Dual-Facility Capacity: The planned facility will encompass both soybean processing and industrial-grade edible oil extraction.
- Job Creation: The investment is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for Cambodian workers.
- Industrial Synergy: By-products from the soybean oil extraction process—such as high-protein soybean meal—will feed directly into local livestock feed formulation, reducing reliance on raw commodity imports.
Company president Gong Xiang Yu affirmed that the expansion reflects strong investor confidence in Cambodia’s stable economic climate and the government’s ongoing business facilitation initiatives.
Strengthening Domestic Sourcing and Farmer Partnerships
H.E. Chea Vuthy welcomed the proposed project and urged the company to maximize the sourcing of locally cultivated soybeans to retain higher economic value within the domestic market.
To secure a sustainable, high-yield supply chain, the CDC recommended focused initiatives across key cultivation hubs:
- Target Production Zones: Conducting comprehensive feasibility studies across major soybean-growing provinces, notably Tboung Khmum, Kampong Cham, and Kratie.
- Contract Farming & Support: Partnering directly with local farming communities by supplying quality seeds, advanced cultivation techniques, and agronomic knowledge transfer.
- Reliable Offtake Mechanisms: Establishing guaranteed harvesting and crop collection networks to secure steady feedstock for factory operations while ensuring stable incomes for smallholders.
The initiative aligns with the Royal Government’s broader policy of integrating domestic crop production with advanced industrial agro-processing to drive export competitiveness.
