The Single Portal online business registration platform has achieved a major milestone nearly six years after its official launch. More than 58,000 businesses have successfully registered through the system, marking a significant leap forward in the nation’s digital economy.
According to a June 15 press release issued by the Digital Economy and Business Committee (DEBC) to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the E-Services for Business Ecosystem, the platform has evolved into a cornerstone of Cambodia’s modern business environment.
Driving Economic Growth via the Cambodia Single Portal
Data released by the DEBC highlights the massive scale of investment flowing through the digital platform between June 15, 2020, and May 31, 2026. A total of 58,081 business registrations were approved during this period, bringing in an aggregate registered capital of approximately $23.82 billion, which is equivalent to around 97 trillion riel.
The platform has also proven to be a powerful tool for inclusivity. Women-owned businesses accounted for 20,964 of the total approved registrations, representing a solid 36 percent of the digital onboarding success.
Key Takeaway: By successfully reducing administrative processes, cutting down processing times, and lowering registration costs, the platform has modernized how local and international entrepreneurs establish a footprint.
The Evolution of Cambodia’s Digital Registration Ecosystem
The Cambodia Single Portal was introduced as a streamlined digital solution to simplify complex bureaucratic procedures. Over the years, it has expanded through a phased roll-out to integrate multiple government bodies into a unified network.
Phase 1: The Foundation of the Cambodia Single Portal
Launched in June 2020, the initial phase brought together six core state institutions to coordinate the workflow. This initial alliance included the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the General Department of Taxation, and the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
Phases 2 & 3: Expanding the Network
To further enhance the e-services ecosystem, the government launched the second phase in September 2021 and followed up with the third phase in June 2023. Each subsequent stage integrated additional ministries and state institutions, continuously refining the platform into a comprehensive, one-stop digital experience for the private sector.
Levelling the Playing Field for Fair Competition
The digital transformation is earning praise from local industry leaders who see the long-term benefits of a formalized economy. Chhin Ken, president of the Cambodia Digital Technology Association, emphasized that strengthening legal frameworks and improving IT literacy among business owners have been the crucial drivers behind this registration surge.
According to Ken, widespread formal registration creates a healthier marketplace for everyone involved. He explained to The Post that when all businesses operate under the same legal umbrella, it brings significant benefits to both the government and the private sector. Furthermore, this collective shift helps eliminate unfair price dumping by illegal business operators who previously evaded taxes, ultimately ensuring transparent, honest competition across Cambodia.
