Phnom Penh Municipal Governor Launches Tree-Planting Campaign

Phnom Penh municipal governor, Khuong Sreng, is leading the way in making the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, greener and more beautiful. In an effort to encourage the public to participate in tree-planting activities, Sreng has set a goal for each of the 14 districts in the city to plant at least 200 trees.

Sreng understands the immense benefits that trees bring to our environment. They provide essential habitats for wildlife, produce oxygen, and combat climate change. Recognizing the value of forests, Sreng is determined to preserve them for future generations.

To ensure the success of the campaign, the authorities in each district will monitor the progress of the planted trees and report back every three months. This initiative highlights the commitment of the Phnom Penh municipal administration to cultivate and nurture a greener and healthier city.

The recent Arbor Day celebrations on July 9, held at Tronum Chreung Primary School in Boeng Thom commune, further inspired Sreng to promote tree planting activities across Phnom Penh. Witnessing the positive impact of the tree-planting ceremony motivated him to rally the public to embrace these initiatives.

In preparation for the campaign, the Phnom Penh municipal administration has procured 3,500 saplings of various species. These saplings will be distributed to the public, encouraging citizens to actively contribute to the greening of the city by planting trees in their desired locations.

By launching this tree-planting campaign, Khuong Sreng is exemplifying exemplary leadership and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among the citizens of Phnom Penh. With their active participation, the city is set to become a more vibrant and eco-friendly place to live.

Let us join hands with Governor Khuong Sreng in making Phnom Penh greener, one tree at a time. Together, we can create a more sustainable future for our city and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
