Angkor Wat has claimed the top spot on Agoda’s newly released list of must-visit temples in Southeast Asia, reaffirming its status as one of the world’s most breathtaking cultural and historical landmarks.
“As the world’s largest religious monument, Angkor Wat’s grandeur and intricate carvings reflect the pinnacle of the Khmer Empire’s architectural and spiritual achievements,” Agoda stated in its announcement on Wednesday.
Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President of Supply at Agoda, highlighted the significance of visiting these sacred sites, saying:
“Exploring these temples is like stepping into a different world, where history, spirituality, and artistry come together.”

The city’s growing popularity is attributed to its rich cultural heritage, stunning temples, vibrant entertainment scene, and favorable weather.
New Digital Ticketing System for Angkor Wat
To enhance visitor convenience, Cambodia has launched a new digital ticketing system for the Angkor Archaeological Park. Self-service machines have been installed across Siem Reap, making ticket purchases easier for foreign tourists and tour operators.
Chhorn Sopheap, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, emphasized the benefits of the new system:
“This initiative simplifies the ticketing process, eliminating unnecessary complexities and making it more convenient for international visitors to explore Angkor’s ancient wonders.”
The reform also streamlines ticket inspections at temple entrances, ensuring a smoother and more efficient experience for tourists.
