Kuala Lumpur— Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet hailed the growing vitality of ASEAN–India dialogue relations, noting that ASEAN has become India’s fourth-largest trading partner, with two-way trade reaching USD 123 billion.
Speaking at the 22nd ASEAN–India Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Samdech Thipadei underscored the shared commitment of ASEAN and India to building a resilient and inclusive digital economy. He stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, health technology, fintech, and cybersecurity through the ASEAN–India Fund for Digital Future.
The Cambodian leader also called for enhanced collaboration in tourism, suggesting joint marketing campaigns to promote ASEAN and India’s diverse destinations, the expansion of professional exchanges in the tourism sector, and stronger people-to-people connectivity.
During the summit, ASEAN and Indian leaders officially declared 2026 as the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation and adopted the ASEAN–India Joint Leaders’ Statement on Sustainable Tourism. They also reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the ongoing Review of the ASEAN–India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) delivers timely, substantial, and mutually beneficial outcomes that reflect the changing global and regional economic dynamics.
