The 14th meeting between the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) marked a significant step towards fortifying friendship and solidarity between the two nations and peoples. President of the CPP, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and General Secretary of the LPRP, Thongloun Sisoulith, reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bonds and achieving more fruitful outcomes through enhanced cooperation.

The meeting, which took place at the CPP headquarters, was characterized by warmth, friendliness, understanding, and trust. Both parties aimed to further cultivate solidarity, traditional friendship, and cooperation across various sectors to bring about long-term and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The commitment to this partnership reflects the high level of appreciation for the ongoing advancement of relations and the desire to elevate it to a new level.

During the meeting, the CPP and the LPRP exchanged views on regional and international dynamics, as well as emerging circumstances within each respective party and country. They discussed bilateral relations and cooperation within regional and international frameworks, emphasizing the future direction of collaboration.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed gratitude and extended support for Laos as the Rotating Chair of ASEAN and Chair of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in 2024. He also invited Laos to lead a high-level delegation to various events hosted by Cambodia in 2024, demonstrating a commitment to mutual collaboration and support.

Both parties reflected on the positive outcomes resulting from the implementation of agreements reached at the 13th Summit between the two parties in Vientiane, acknowledging the significant progress made in strengthening solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and mutual support between the two parties, parliaments, governments, and public organizations of both countries. Collaboration has also flourished among local authorities along the borders of the two countries, focused on advancing the development of each nation and enhancing their roles within the region and on the global stage.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to further enhance friendly relations, solidarity, and cooperation between the respective parties and countries, as well as with the CLV countries, ultimately contributing to the promotion of peace, stability, friendship, cooperation, and development within the Mekong subregion and beyond.

Looking ahead, the two sides agreed to hold the 15th meeting in Laos in 2025, signaling a continued commitment to strengthening their partnership and cooperation.

In a separate meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in April 2024, Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith reiterated Laos’ commitment to fostering robust relations with Cambodia despite regional and global challenges. This acknowledgement underscores the unwavering commitment to collaboration and mutual support between the two nations.
